Surely this isn't normal?

Dgs(6) was up early this morning - 6 ish - and he went downstairs to watch TV as is the norm.

I got up at 7, went down for breakfast and found the cup I had a bedtime drink in last night in the lounge where I left it - but full of something that dgs just confirmed was NOT apple juice (as he first claimed).

Wtf??!! I'm too fucking disgusted for words. I have 3 DDs so am at a loss as to whether his behaviour is 'normal' for a boy?? Was he just too lazy to go to the toilet?

This is the last straw at the moment. I am really struggling. Drowning, not waving, kind of struggling.

Confused
TongueBiter · 25/03/2015 08:12

Although maybe he's just a Pringles tube user in the making? Trying to see a funny side but it's just vile.

We don't live like this.

boys can be pretty gross but at 6 he should know better and use the toilet.

TongueBiter · 25/03/2015 08:16

I am really finding it so hard. I've had full care of him for nearly 6 years and feel like an absolute failure at the moment.

Has there been any changes at home? Perhaps something is bothering him at school? I'm not entirely certain but I know children can act out when something is bothering them. My son is coming up 6 and although he hasn't avtually peed in anything, he has started to pee himself and I think it might be for attention as he is fully aware when he needs to go and where he needs to go and we've been to the doctor who has said he isn't unwell Hmm

TongueBiter · 25/03/2015 12:25

I do think it was mix of pure laziness and possible curiousity? But why the hell he didn't realise he shouldn't be doing it, God only knows! Absolutely disgusting. AND in my new mug.

I think I did something like this when I was around that age Blush. Mine was the middle of the night so I assume in my head I thought it was easier, or I was scared of going to the loo in the dark or something.

Anyway, just to reassure you that I have grown up to be a respectable person and am ridiculously tidy and clean - just in case this puts your mind at rest? I guess it also depends on what his attitude is towards it, does he know it was the wrong thing to do or does he find it funny?

TheBakeryQueen · 25/03/2015 14:52

I don't think it's that big a deal, he is only 6, probably a bit of laziness.

I'd just explain why it's not the done thing, germs etc etc & forget about it.

I've got 3 boys, wouldn't shock me at all.

TongueBiter · 25/03/2015 14:56

He appeared apologetic when I asked him about it, after telling me it was blackcurrant, and then Apple juice.

I just don't understand what goes through his head Confused

BakeryQueen - yeah, I guess that's the way to go. It's just been a battle of will recently, and this was the last straw. He has brought me to my knees many more times than parenting three daughters.

I think boys are generally pretty disgusting tbh. My ds, at that age, went into the garden specifically to on a number of occasions that I know about . Right there on the grass in the middle of the lawn. God knows what the neighbours thought.

We are currently fining him 50p every time he forgets to Flush n wash'.

Solareclipseoftheheart · 25/03/2015 15:22

At this age I wouldn't be too concerned - just explain that this is not something which we do.

Discopanda · 25/03/2015 17:27

It's normal, boys are just disgusting.

Queazy · 25/03/2015 18:14

Sounds pretty gross but hopefully the last time he does that! Also sounds like you're having a tough time generally tho? Hope you're ok

outtolunchagain · 25/03/2015 18:22

He obviously didn't want to miss any of his TV programme so he just used the nearest receptacle.Obviously not acceptable but not a hanging offence , he's a six year old FGS.I have three boys and in my experience they will generally do the easiest thing!

A friend who is a teacher once said that if she asked the class to draw a map of Britain , the girls would get out their best pens and the boys would ask where the photocopier was .Obviously I don't condone such blatant stereotyping but it did make me smile .

Fugghetaboutit · 25/03/2015 18:33

My brother used to pee in the filing cabinet rather than walk down 3 stairs to the loo. Arse. Think he was the same age.

TongueBiter · 25/03/2015 20:47

Thanks for the advice/anecdotes.

I know we're not supposed to stereotype but dear lord, he is just all mess and noise, constant tapping, banging, whistling and peeing in cups - it would be exhausting if he were my only child I'm sure, but I'm the wrong side of 45, I've raised my DDs, and this child is pushing my buttons all day every day

Is it possible to get post-adoption depression six years on?! while already taking sertraline

Fugghetaboutit · 25/03/2015 21:41

My ds constantly taps and bangs things just for the sake of it, I hate it and really have to stop myself from yelling JUST FUCKING STOP IT

TongueBiter · 25/03/2015 22:00

It varies from the "are-you-list-en-ing" beat from his school to "Villa,Villa, Villa" on loop.

I'm trying to start afresh mentally and plan lots of tiring activities for Easter but it just never seems enough!
