Helping very vocal 2.2 year old improve her pronounciation

Hi, 2.2 dd has excellent vocab, grammar & constructs huge sentances however the more her vocab develops her pronounciation is becoming more slurred she is running words together. Her pronounciation has gotten worse in the past couple of weeks & I don't know if this regression is due to her younger sister getting more active, crawling etc?
She has had no ear infections lately that I am aware of, she doesn't watch any tv, we read loads of books with her & I am making an effort to slow down my own speech.
As I said up thread the pronounciation has deteriorated the past couple of weeks could it be a phase? Any tips in improving quality of speech in general would be appreciated.

I'll copy a couple of lines from a similar reply I did recently, concerning speech. Some of it may not be relevant in your case, so ignore bits that don't make sense for you:

QUOTE
Read and talk to him all the time (which I'm sure you already do) and maybe try little poems or 'tongue twisters' - Beatrix Potter "Appley Dapply Nursery Rhymes" or "Dr Seuss", and invite him to complete a rhyme, or copy a tongue twister. Spike Milligan's books of children's nonsense rhymes are also good.

I'll look back sometime, see how you getting on.

Patience.

It takes time for child to develop clear speech. Ito normal for two year old not have clear speech.

I'm a SLT and ReallyTired is quite right. If she says a word that's not clear, just copy it back to her the way you would say it, with all the sounds in the right place. Never ask her to copy or repeat words after you, and never tell her she's said it 'wrong'. She's 2 - she may not have all her sounds in place until she's 7 so patience is key!

Sorry to hijack, but Lotta, my 2.4 year old isn't getting "S" sounds at the start of her words and the "D" sound is there for some words but not others.

I am not concerned, because she is coming on so much, but my HV is up my ass over it and is reviewing in 2 months. She had a checklist and I was on the spot to remember all the words DD says, so I forgot some. Today DD told me her cheese "andwich" was "owwiscious". So it really is just the pronunciation of a few words, but at 2.4 is this really a big concern?

sliceofsoup · 19/03/2015 22:48

Oh and the "L" sound is a problem at the start and in the middle of words.

Lottapianos · 20/03/2015 08:43

Hi slice, the 's' sounds comes about 3 years old, the 'l' sound often not until more like 6. So no need to worry. just follow advice I gave above

Yes just model clear speech. She is only 2!
