I thought we had it cracked, I really did. Grin
every night we wake dd between 9:30pm and 10:30pm to go for one last wee. This has worked for several weeks.

However, every time I bite the bullet and change the sheets; she wets the bed again. aaargh!

Okay a few things:

  1. Lifting does not train them to stay dry at night but instead to wee in their sleep. They need that full bladder sensation and for their brain to learn to holds it in. You cannot affect that.
  2. You cannot train nighttime dryness because...
  3. It is hormonal. Children can develop the hormone vasopressin as late as 8 years old. Before then, there is nothing you can do.

However saying all of that, I agree it is very annoying and frustrating in equal measure

my dd wore big girl huggies until she was 9..... drove me crazy but that's the way she was ... other dd was dry age 3.

we just never made an issue of it (too many other battles to fight!) although we did do things to help like get her an alarm clock which she set for 1 am - then bumping it up to 3 - 4 am before she was finally dry.

we gave her control of the problem when she was old enough to want to sort it

My son is nearly 7 and we still have wet beds :-( Just reflecting on it - pyjama pants etc are sold in in all supermarkets - it must be very common but people do not talk about it?

There is a long hugely informative thread on this which I don't know how to link to but I found it when I searched bedwetting.

One thing which helped us was getting your child to drink more in the day. This apparently stretches the bladder (like a balloon) so it is more able to store the wee overnight. This changed my 6 year old from having zero dry night to having at least 60% dry nights, which is obviously not totally dry but it still seemed miraculous to me!

bedwetting can be a n issue for the parents and the children. however there are many ways to stop bedwetting for good. parents feel embarrassed talking about it with their doctors so it is rarely talked about. i have heard of bedwetting alarms. they have no side effects and stop bedwetting. one of my coworkers told me about chummie . i went saw good reviews on the website too.
