Hi people, my dd started infant school in september, at first she seemed happy enough, but now she doesn't want to go in the mornings and even cries sometimes... she's also become a lot more moody and withdrawn, and she's always been a bouncy outgoing child... i've tried finding out whats wrong and she says she doesn't like the teacher!! she's made some new friends so i don't think shes'being bullied. shall i go and talk to the school??!!

Not experienced enough to help, but bumping for others...

Could it be that shes tired perhaps, if shes one of the younger ones it can be a long day for them and I do find that my ds gets emotional near the end of terms. I would def go and speak to the teacher though, you never know sometimes something thats not even an issue to us can be of great importance to a child.
I hope you get it sorted, its such a weight of your mind when they enjoy going to school.

Would agree on the tiredness being a factor. Quite a few in DD are like that towards the end of term. We had a long half term here as well. 7 wks as opposed to the mostly 6 wks we had last year. Speak to the teacher and see if she is okay in class. Sometimes they play up to you, but in school are fine. She should adjust as the school year goes on

of course you should speak to the teacher .. no question about it

although it could be just that she realises its long term and not just something fun to do when she feels like it

it is definitely something to draw to the teacher's attention, don't hesitate to talk about it!

Just because your dd may be no trouble to the teacher in class, does not mean her thoughts and worries can be passed over by the teacher.

What do you make of the teacher? Do you think it's possible that your dd is genuinely not liking her, or is this just something your DD has thought of to 'hang' her worries on?

I'd ask for an appt with the teacher and pass on how your dd is about school and she how she reacts and if she has any suggestions to deal with it...

I do feel for you, my ds started reception this year and it really is a nerve wracking time, isn't it; and of course it's so much nicer for everyone if the children actually don't mind going to school!
