How the effing eff do I get 6YO DD to WIPE HER BUM?!?!?!

She just doesn't, and it's driving me mad. Well, sometimes I expect she gives it a cursory wipe or two, but quite often she clearly just doesn't bother at all. Almost every day her pants are all skid-marky. I've tried, time and again, to talk to her about it, patiently, gently explain it's important for hygiene, not being smelly, generally more pleasant, etc. Occasionally I've let my frustration show and been obviously pissed off about it but honestly, what can I do?? If she were 3 or 4 and not so dextrous/capable of doing a good job then I wouldn't mind - hell, if she was at least consistently trying harder then I wouldn't mind so much, but although I'm sure occasionally she does, most of the time she honestly doesn't give a shit (pun intended). She even said so this evening - she got undressed for the bath and there was (sorry, TMI alert) an actual clump of poo between her butt cheeks, so I pulled her up on it, and when I said (AGAIN) 'You do need to wipe, what can I say or do so that you actually do it?', she just said 'I don't care.'

So what do I do? Thing is, like any parent of young kids, I've been dealing with poo, wee, vomit etc for years (I also have DS aged just-turned-2 so still very much in the poo-removal zone), so much of the time I don't think about it, just wash the poo out of the pants. But sometimes I think FFS, why do I have to deal with this? She doesn't care, she knows I'll scrub her pants, she can't be arsed (again, another pun intended) wiping because it takes up precious time when she could be playing, reading, etc. I'm fed up. Advice please!!

My dd was getting like this. I said she needed to wipe until the last lot of toilet tissue was white with no brown stains.

Go to supermarket with her and ask her to pick out the toilet roll?
Buy loo roll with bears on that guide how many sheets to use?
Get a packet of wet wipe toilet tissues that smell nice (Problem with this is not to be flushed so would need a bin)
Buy a hands free electric soap dispenser or aquarium soap or foam soap that is hers alone for after she has wiped

Confused Wet wiping worked for mine. Good luck Xx

Oh, Longdistance, she knows the theory, believe me!

GettingFiggy - yep, I introduced the wet wipes a week or two ago to little effect so far, sadly. Sigh. Special soap could be an incentive. I'll give it a go...

We had this. Nothing really worked apart from being pretty brutal and just telling him he smelled (which he did on times where he'd not wiped). Then his brother got a bit bigger and started saying "mummy I don't think H has wiped his bottom properly again as he STINKS".

That did help a bit, but to be honest growing up just helped too. It's horrible though and I have lots of sympathy.
