Should my DD have such a pot belly?

Sorry if this sounds like a ridiculous question, it's just that IMO my DD (15 months) has a perfect little body, ie not skinny, not overly chubby, just nicely 'round'. She has a rather large pot belly though. Is this - dare I say the word - "normal"??

I'm interested too - DD is 17 months and quite slim but has a perfectly round pot belly which can look huge if she's eaten a lot, like she's swalllowed a ball Grin

Yup, toddlers have large abdominal organs relative to body size, I believe, hence the tummies.

myotherusernameisbetter · 21/02/2015 18:36

Yes, perfectly normal to have a toddler tummy :)

think it's to do with lack of tummy muscles too - it disappears as their back straightens out etc.

Yes, normal.

IME, my DCs would get a pot belly, then their feet would grow a size, then they would sprout upwards and the belly would get a bit smaller as their internal organs had a bit more space. And repeat.

when does the pot belly stage end. DD is nearly 4 and still gets a pot belly, rest of her is very slim

I think around 5-6 yo they start to even out, I think doing things like gymnastics and swimming helps strengthen the tummy muscles a bit.

My DD had a pot belly till she was 5 - she even got called fat at pre-school Sad but now she is 6 she is getting lean and long.
