Odd behaviour at meal times

A few weeks ago and at most meal times since then my 15 month old DD has started doing something new. Whilst she has a mouthful of food she'll stick out her tongue and using her hand she'll scrape the food out.

She always does it half way into the meal so it's clear it has nothing to do with her not liking what she's eating.

I ignore it and pay her no attention whatsoever (am hoping that it's just a 'thing' she is doing at the moment that doesn't mean anything and by not rewarding her with any kind of attention while she's doing it she'll get bored and stop). No luck so far though...

Has anyone else come across this?

DS used to do a similar thing at that age. No scraping but he'd stick his tongue out and just let the food fall out. Then he's carry on eating, so like you say it was nothing to do with taste or being full. I think they just play around and test out "what happens if I do this". He's 18 months now and he's stopped that but we have a whole load of other new meal time challenges now! (Like dropping his food on the floor then pointing his finger at me and saying "no!" Hmm)

My 23 month old DS has done similar for months. He will have a mouthful of chrwed up food and then open his mouth and let it drop out, but he is improving a little, finally! I think it may something to do with experimenting with textures, sensations, or just simply getting bored half way through and not swallowing??

My three and a half year old still bloody does this. Drives me mad. I completley ignore if she does it once, if she does it again I remove the plate until she asks for it back.

It's an attention seeking thing as far as I can figure out but I don't know how to stop. Her twin sister even asks her what she's doing.
