Hey,

My LO is 3.1 years and we've held off from potty training till now because he just wasn't ready beforehand. This past week while he's been off nursery we've had just pants on in the house. We've had good and not so good days, but even on the good days he still slightly dribbles slightly in his pants before he tells me he needs a wee.

Then i have to take him to the potty sometimes because he's too busy playing even though he's told me he needs it..how long will this last? He's back at nursery next week and i'm worried if i send him in pant he wont go himself only if someone takes him, he is doing really well and we havent had many puddles, its just dribbles in pants..what shall i do?

Thanks

Would using some kind of incentive help? Stickers worked really well for potty training my dd - she also had a tendency to know she needed to go, but just get so absorbed in playing or whatever that she couldn't tear herself away. But the stickers seemed to outweigh this for her. I did use buttons for a time, too! I know some people are against the use of these kind of incentives in potty training, but it seemed to help us.

Do you ask him if he needs the potty?

Can he pull down his trousers/pants himself?

With both my DC I asked them every hour if they needed to pee, as well as taking them when they asked.

It does take a few weeks for them to get the hang of it, so make sure he wears things that are easy to pull down.

It's a huge step, and he seems like he's on the right track.

His daycare will have handled lots of kids at his stage, so try not to worry, he'll 'click' eventually.

We use sticker's at the moment and they do work, he gets so excited but that isn't stopping the dribbles.

Every time i ask him if he needs it he says no..i can't remember even once when he's said yes..although i now instead of asking him if he needs it, i just ask him to try instead, sometimes works, sometimes not.

He doesn't seem to be getting the poo part though, forever he's always disappeared and stood somewhere quiet to have a poo, that is going to be a difficult thing for nursery.
