15mo not walking!!

Dd is nearly 16mo and is not yet walking. She stands alone and sometimes takes a couple of steps but not properly walking yet and I would say she is quite far away from doing so.

She is excellent at speaking (will say anything), so I am not concerned about general development I'm just wondering if I should get her hips checked by a doctor or health visitor.

Does she walk willingly while holding your hand? DS1 was happy to walk around hand in hand for months after he first stood independently. Finally walked on his own at 16 months.

Average is 14 months so 15/16 months not late.

Neither of mine could walk at 15mo.If you raised it with hv chances are they would say come back in 6 months. They both walk fine now btw

Chill out, you don't need to worry until at least 18 months, despite what everyone is probably saying to you. My ds is 15 months and the same. Lost count of the amount of interfering sods who say he's "late".

My dd didn't walk until she was almost 17 months old. Like yours though, she was an excellent talker!
She's 14 now and walks just fine!

According to my mum I was 18onths before I walked and I didn't crawl. I just screamed for what I wanted ! I'm totally normal now, well in the walking sense Grin

My kids were all late starters when it came to walking. I think if she can stand on her own and even take a step or two she is doing fine and there is nothing to worry about. My youngest took his first steps at 21 months (for his childminder, on his first day back with her after 2 weeks at home with us over Christmas hols - little bugger!). He was an early talker too like your DD.
My older 2 were 14m and 16m. It makes life a lot easier in my experience - early walkers tend to crash into things a lot more as their spatial awareness hasn't caught up with their walking skills!

No harm in mentioning it to your health visitor if you are worried though...

Thank you to everyone for replying it has made me feel a whole lot better. She won't walk whilst we hold her hand but will walk forwards and backwards with her push along walker.

I don't think I am worried at all now I have read everyone's replies. I have always thought deep down that she will be fine but as a mother it's normal to have that little bit of worry.

I guess it just means I get to have her like a baby for that bit longer Grin.
