Good teether for premolars?

My 16mo ds has got one of his premolars coming through at the moment, and dh says he's wanting to chew a lot during the day. Not sure if the two are definitely related.

We've never really bothered with teething toys - he's got a set of plastic keys that someone gave us, but dh says he's not interested in them.

Is it worth getting him some bickiepegs or one of those teething toys that go further back in the mouth? Or should we just let him get on with chewing his normal toys?

No help really, I never found a toy that either of my children chewed on. the cold in a teething toy is very quickly lost anyway.

Teething gel can help if you can put it on - it might be tricky to get there without being bitten. It doesn't work all day but does give temporay relief and can be useful just before meals.

Ice pops?
Cold food?

Sorry I'm not more inspired for you

Have been using ashton and parsons teething granules, just wet my finger so the powder sticks then rub it on her gums. Its the only thing she'll open her mouth for!!

Had a much better meal tonight as i did this half hour b4. Ate sauage and bean pie with brocolli and carrots. My god can she eat brocolli though - just shoves it in her mouth, i swear she would eat a whole one given the chance. Is there such a thing as too much veg?? i wonder?? wierd child

Tried the ice pops, she thought it was really funny to bite bits off then spit it out for the "doggies" !!

How you getting on Cornflake girl??

try a toothbrush. dd couldn' get the other teethers that far in her mouth, so i gave her a toothbrush to chew on. It also helps them get used to the brush.

My ds just got his first premolar. Very strange as he only has 6 front teeth. Anyway, favourite things to chew on included:

  • plastic drumstick
  • toothbrush
  • Baby spoon (one of those 1st spoons with a really squishy spoon bit)
  • his comb
