Baby walker - how old?

How old should ds be before I put him in a baby walker?

Just wondering as he seems to prefer being upright and to like lots of changes of scenery. Plus it would be harder for dd to lie on top of him in a walker!

(BTW I know some people don't like them because they delay crawling. I read up a bit on them with dd and decided to have one anyway and she was much happier in it).

I put dd2 in one at 5/6 mths i think. They are supposed to be able to hold their heads up.
It saved my sanity as that was the only thing that she liked sitting in.
As long as you are careful where you put it and always make sure she is being watched it should be fine.
I really wanted one for Ds but brought a door bouncer instead. He hated it.

5 months sounds good - someone said he shouldn't go in one till he can sit up on his own, but I know I didn't wait that long with dd.

Door bouncers scare me - when I was at school a friend's baby sister fell out of one and was poorly for months.

Both of my kids used a walker from about 5 months. There is meant to be a maximum time limit that they spend in it but personally I let my DD and DS stay in it while there were happy. As for the delay in crawling / walking. Babies vary a great deal. My dd never crawled and walked at 21 months. DS crawled at 7 months and walked at 11 months. Out of them, I'd say DS spent more time in the walker!
