SUDDEN SCREAMING IN THE BATH!

My DD is 20 months old and has always loved her bath every night b4 bed. Sometimes it's been really difficult getting her out as she loves playing in there.. But, over the past week, she has totally screamed the house down as soon as she's lowered into it!
I know you're going to ask if the water is too hot & no, it isn't, but it is as if you're putting her in a bath full of scalding water! She's totally fine once she's out & dry.. Anyone have any ideas what it's all about??

Our four months had a bit similar problem people told me baby go through such stage. Not sure 20 month has the similar problem.
We've tried most techniques, most effective one was to stop bath for a few days. He was okay last time we bath him.

ds1 went through this at about that age, and again at 2 1/2 but not as badly. just keep going. kids change like the wind.

It could be something really simple, that you might not have noticed, like she got a fright while in the bath, or hurt herself slightly. Or may be she's just fed up with having baths I only bath my dd 2 or 3 times a week now (used to be every night), although that's mainly because I'm a lazy cow! Does she sleep ok? Could it be a bit of a rebellion to the whole 'going to bed' routine? Give her a break from baths for a few days and then try again...

Thanks all. Yeah, she sleeps fine when she gets to bed..She did slip in the bath about 2 months ago, but was fine the next night, & the next, and so on, until recently. We're cutting her baths down to every other night, partly for the sake of our ears!

DS got very scared of baths when we went away and the 'strange' bath had a noisy plughole.....
I went right back to going in the bath with him for a few weeks which calmed him down, and when we tried baths without mummy again he was fine.

Ds did this at about 10 months: he seemed totally petrified. I just stopped giving him baths - you really don't have to bath them to keep them clean - I just washed him with a flannel, including his hair (admittedly he didn't have much hair).
It wasn't until I had DD, when he was just over 2 that he saw how much she enjoyed her bath & asked to have one. He was fine from then on, though as soon as I introduced him to the shower he never had another bath.

Glad to hear it's not just us then. I tried going in there with her which she usually loves, but it never made any difference..

dd2 did this and we have no idea what brought it on. So we just started bathing her every few days and sponge bath in between - but I needed to break it coming up to summer in Aus where they would sometimes have two baths. Just started gently - let her stand up and quickly sponged her over and built it up from there. She still hates having her hair washed so we do that as quickly as possible - thank goodness still not much hair( she's almost 2).

Tonight I had to drag her out of the bath.......

My DS2 has stood up in the bath from 7 months to now (17 months) and if we even try to sit him down he is hysterical.

I have no idea what brought it on, what he is frightened of, just WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?

I have given up now and am waiting for the day he can actually tell me why he won't sit down. He gets washed, so that is the main thing, and we have had some progress by playing a game of up and down and actually dips his bum in the water - while holding on obviously!

It is just very very very very very odd. And this is of no help to you - sorry !
