15mth old ds new 'skill' of making himself gag..

My 15mth old ds has developed a new skill, if that's what you want to call it, of sticking his fingers down his throat to make himself gag! Sometimes he does this so much and so forcefully it's actually making him sick Shock This has been going on for roughly a week now.

Ds is the youngest of my 3dc and I have not come across this before, has anyone else's dc done this? Is it just a phase that, fingers crossed, will pass?

It just seems like a very odd thing to do!

Small child here did that for a while too (probably three-four months). Yes, it is horrible, and yes, it should pass. We just kept an eye out and would take the fingers away with a 'no, don't do that'.

Both mine did for a few weeks- again just said 'don't do that'

DS did this for a while, the novelty has worn off now! I was worried too but spoke to mum and she said I did the same!

DD did it for a while too - only in the car for attention it seemed when we were driving. I just kept saying 'no' and she stopped after a while. Pretty unpleasant though!

Dd 19 months does it sometimes. Especially if she's trying to spit food out that she's decided she no longer wants to eat.

Other times she does it just for fun it would seem!

Thank you for all your replies.

Ds does seem to do it purely just because he can! I tell him "no" and he just laughs and does it more, so think I may try to ignore it to see if that limits him doing it. I'm sure he thinks its a game sometimes!
