Hi All,

Just after a little advice my LB is just 12 weeks and is fast out growing his moses basket I know the recommended time to be in our room is 6 months has anyone moved there LO out before this? Also how did you make the transition my LB sleeps so well in his basket night and day and I'm really worried about the transition.
Any hints or tips greatly appreciated
TIA x

We moved dd at 14 weeks....at first we put the Moses in the cot for a few weeks and then dd into cot in Gro bag....

Lots of people move their little ones in before the six month mark.

Don't feel guilty just use a baby monitor at all times and it's best to start things early so that is what they become used to.

I would start putting baby in his cot for his naps now so that he gets used to it. I also had a blackout blind so nap times and bedtimes were kept in the dark, well during the day it wasn't pitch black but it was good enough iyswim and at night I would keep the monitor light on but turned away from the cot.

We divided the cotbed in half with a cot bumper or similar, and used one half for the baby, the other half as handy dumping ground. Makes it seem a bit more cosy when they're tiny.

Thanks for the tips, he had his morning nap in his cot today but there was no settling him this afternoon. Might try the cot bumpers trick hoe did you make sure they were secure?

I just went ahead and put DS in his cot at 7 weeks as he was also too big for crib/moses basket and was waking himself up hitting the sides. He was actually fine from the first night, slept much better as he wasn't hitting anything with outstretched arms. However he is still in with us as we have room for the cot alongside the bed, is that possible for you?

Hi
We can't put his cot in with us we would have to go out and buy a crib or something similar and it seems a waste of money for just a refer weeks. Thanks

Yes, a crib will be a waste as they are barely bigger. In that case with his own room, maybe only take him up with you when you go to bed if the bedrooms are upstairs, for a bit. DS still sleeps from 8-11 on us or in his pram carrycot downstairs and then we put him in the cot. It might be an easier transition if you are at least always only a room over. And like I say, he may be fine if you just go with it. If he's alone as well perhaps an airwrap instead of bumpers as bumpers seem not to be advised these days due to suffocation risks. They are still sold everywhere though so it's not clear! However if he's in another room it might give you peace of mind to know there's nothing in there that he could possibly get tangled in/press his face into. So no add ons or blankets, just him in a sleeping bag, he can't get up to any mischief then!
