strange thing to ask, but dd1 loves shopping in places like habitat and ikea. and not just for the fun stuff for her room. today she was telling me we needed a wooden clothes horse and i should buy it. maybe i've dragged her round these places too much. she also loves homebase!

My kids hate shopping unless it is for them, your lucky, lol.

My ds1 loves the Trafford centre because of all the different shops. Also because of the food court and the arcade. But he calls it the traffic centre. He's not far wrong!

Mine have always loved DIY and furniture places - they used to play hide and seek and pretend games in the room settings. Not sure if the staff were thrilled but it kept them happy. ds2, when he was about 7, used to take his own trolley round homebase and fill it up with paintbrushes and bits of wood.

10 yr old DS hates it with a passion, we torure him with idle threats of going to Ikea (were 9 hours there once)

roisin · 12/04/2004 20:34

DS2 (4) loves any type of shopping, and has far more patience than me. He adores choosing things, not just buying them, and will happily go in 5 or 6 shops looking for "just the right one". DS1 (6) is more like me and can't stand any sort of retail experience ... even if it's something for him. He'd much rather send someone else to shop for him: He always knows exactly what he wants and doesn't need to browse/choose.

she's only 4 btw. she makes me laugh as she dragged me and dh into habitat today as we were walking past. she was saying things 'wow look at that bed, thats lovely,' and trying the sofas for comfort.

Mine like toy shops - no surprises there - and computer game shops.

ds2 who is 2.5 likes going to Tesco's as well - not that he get's the chance very often, so the novelty hasn't worn off

suedonim · 12/04/2004 21:20

Ds1 has always liked shopping, not so ds2. Dd1 has been riffling through clothes racks since she could walk and has a brilliant eye for a bargain. Dd2 loves Ikea because 'You can get lots of things for not very much money!'

grumpyzebra · 12/04/2004 21:21

My kids treat the local branch of Mamas & Papas like an adventure playground, sigh...

littlemissbossy · 12/04/2004 21:42

ds loves ikea - as long as ballpool is open, tesco - as long he can sit in a trolley like the little tikes car, and the obvious, any type of toy shop! ss's hate shopping, unless it's for them of course!

Hulababy · 12/04/2004 21:43

My 2yo DD loves shopping of any kind. I try to avoid taking her when she's tired if I can though.

marialuisa · 13/04/2004 12:19

All shopping, always. She's particularly fond of the trafford centre at the moment! quite pleased as she understands 2window-shopping" and will happily play in ELC/Waterstones and not ask for anything. Just hope that continues.

Kayleigh · 13/04/2004 12:42

think shopping is a a girlie thing. I have friends with daughters who love shopping. My ds1 - nearly 6- hates shopping (unless it's specifically for him - but then I'm not allowed in any other shops). Ds2 is almost 3 and still at the stage where he is ok about most shopping, prefers food and home style shopping as opposed to clothes. He hates closed in shopping centres though.
Am very much looking forward to leaving both boys at home with dh all watching football on telly on a saturday afternoon whilst Mummy goes shopping

aloha · 13/04/2004 12:47

My ds (2.6) loves Comet, Currys etc because they are full of doors to open and buttons to push! It's heaven for him.

dinosaur · 13/04/2004 12:49

I took DS1 to John Lewis on Thursday last week and much to my amazement he chose for himself some trousers, a tee-shirt and some sunglasses! You could have knocked me down with the proverbial!

Demented · 13/04/2004 16:14

My two like the Early Learning Centre, WH Smith and the local corner shop (for chocolate buttons obviously, not anything useful).

Twinkie · 13/04/2004 16:16

Any shop as long as something in it is pink = preferably it has to have a coffee shop in that sells cake and tea in a proper tea pot and failing that somewhere she can buy something - oooohhhhh she sounds just like me!!

kid · 13/04/2004 20:35

My 2 love any toy shops where they can 'test' the toys. We took DS to B&Q toady, he had a great time running away from his nan in the garden section, maybe some MN's saw the mad little boy shouting and making a run for it?!!
