5 year anxious first wobbly tooth

I hope it's the right place to post this.
My 5 year old has her first wobbly tooth and seems pretty anxious about it. She has an older sibling who never reacted like this and didn't seem to really notice. I have explained to her what happens reassured her another tooth is going to grow instead and that it happens to everyone at this age, and tooth fairy is coming. She talked about other friends losing a tooth already. But she says it's painful sometimes when she eats and didn't want toast for breakfast - though she ate biscuits the day before! I have booked her to get her teeth checked but I wonder if anyone has had the same.

Are there any good books to de dramatize?

With it being her first wobbly tooth, she's probably just feeling a bit uneasy.

When my DD had her first wobbly tooth she wouldn't let anyone look at it never mind touch it. Now, she likes to show me just how far back and forth she can move them!!Shock

I was a real drama queen when my teeth started wobbling (a very long time ago!!) My very kind older brothers offered to tie my tooth to string and attach to door. This didn't help!

Sometimes when they are very wobbly they can catch on the gum and it can be quite painful.

Could you offer porridge or weetabix in the mornings? Something soft that she doesn't need to chew as much.

My DS was just like this a few weeks ago with his first wobbly tooth. I just talked to him about it and reassured him it would be fine, it happens to everyone etc. He got really funny about eating anything. I just put it down to the fact that it was something new to him, a fear of the unknown thing. Luckily it fell out quite quickly and he realised that I was right, I didn't hurt and it was all okay. He's lost another one since too and was not bothered the second time.

Thanks - it's quite reassuring. It was a completely different experience with DC1. Dc2 is much more sensitive. Hopefully when that first one is out she will be ok. Thanks for the replies.

I cried when I got my first loose tooth! I was terrified one wouldn't come back and I'd look like a baby again! I do remember not wanting to eat because I didn't like the moving, it wasn't painful it just felt weird, maybe she means that?
