Fed up with baby

I'm just venting here and I know I'm being unfair but I'm really fed up with my 10 month old. She's been a bad sleeper from birth although nights have got better recently (until she got another cold) and I'm just totally fed up.
She's very windy and has very soft gag reflex. Recently I posted about the amount of times she throws up food when given anything chunky. That's got worse with a cough. Vomit pours out of her at most feeds.
She's always been really windy and early on we tried Gaviscon but didn't seem to help. I don't know if it's a dairy intolerance or CMPI - is it bad enough for that? I have eczema so maybe something's going on with dairy. I'm so fed up I don't know what to do.
I feel so frustrated with her as now we will have another afternoon where she's tired and grumbly and cries a lot. I know it's not her fault and I'm a bitch. I'm so miserable.

I would investigate the possibility of a posterior tongue tie. www.tonguetie.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3

My LO was very windy and vomitty before we had hers snipped.

In the meantime I recommend chocolate and cake x

Echocave · 05/10/2014 14:44

Thanks Tallulah, sorry to drip feed, we had her tt snipped at 2 weeks and it doesn't seem to have reattached. Although I should get it checked. She's got a serious lip tie but we've been told we can't sort it out now til she's much older because of the need for anaesthetic.
I'm selfishly just worn out with worrying after 10 bloody months.

It's not selfish echocave - becoming a mum didn't elevate you to sainthood, you've every right to be tired and fed up. In the first instance I'd speak to your HV or doctor ref possible causes, and in the meantime can someone give you a couple of hours off? My DH takes my kids (1&2 yrs) out on a Sunday pm. My DS was one grumpy baby and screamed a lot, had I not had the promise of some time to myself I'd have gone crazy.

Have a glass of Wine x

I've no advice sorry. But I wanted to say you aren't a bitch, you're tired! And reasonably so.

Things will get better. My DC1 spelt through from 6 months. My DC2 is 2 years old and is just thinking about STTN now :-)

It's been a tough 2 years, but you'll get there too.

LastingLight · 05/10/2014 19:11

That sounds really tough. I don't have any advice but just wanted to tell you that it's ok to feel fed up. Has a paed seen her?

BuilderMammy · 05/10/2014 19:47

Don't rule out reflux on the basis that Gaviscon didn't work. It's really only effective with very mild cases.

Gooseysgirl · 05/10/2014 20:00

My DS has silent reflux (acid reflux without the vomiting), ranitidine changed our lives! Gaviscon did not cut it for us. Maybe see your GP again?

Echocave · 05/10/2014 21:33

Thank you all. I'm just not sure her symptoms are bad enough to be taken seriously. When I took her at 5 months the GO seemed to expect me to say dd threw all her milk up constantly. She didn't but she was still quite sicky and her gag reflex during weaning is very oversensitive. But I love her and feel sad she's so unsettled.

OP posts:
naty1 · 05/10/2014 22:37

My dd was never sick during weaning at the high chair.
Several times a while later.
So that does soubd sensitive.
DD is allergic to soya it makes her vomit. Its in lots of foods.
If its reflux they start to get better from walking.
At 10m still having lots of milk surely so maybe the tight lip tie could be still causing gas. What sort of bottles are you using?

Dd also has lip tie (loose) but dont know about TT.
Could your dds tounguebtie have been more posterior than thought?

Which foods have caused a prob?

Echocave · 05/10/2014 23:06

We're using Nuk bottles with latex teats for the milk. She will do a couple of big burps and be ok usually but sometimes will be a bit sick. She also seems to choke a bit during milk drinking. Obviously with a cold that has all been exacerbated and she will be sick quite often after a cough.

I'm sorry I'm back again. Struggled to get chicken purée into her then she was given a sodding green bean to eat. 2 minutes later she's gagged and thrown her dinner up all over me/the floor. I am at my wits' end with this bloody feeding.

OP posts:
Echocave · 07/10/2014 17:45

I didn't give her the bean by the way, I know she can't bloody handle anything like real food. What the hell is wrong with her. I feel really really angry.

OP posts:
naty1 · 07/10/2014 21:47

That does sound strange.

Maybe she isnt good at moving the food to back of mouth.

The reflex usually just brings forward what is being chocked on, not the rest of the food.
I would take to see gp.

Echocave · 07/10/2014 22:54

Yes I will although I'm sure the GP will say her weight is fine and she'll grow out of it. I dread feeding her. I cried after she'd been put to bed tonight. Maybe it's reflux. I am scared reading online about all the things it could be. I'm just about to return to work in a rather high pressure environment and I'm worrying about her and about all the appointments I might need. I've got to have an operation myself soon. Sorry, I'm being pathetic but I feel like I can't cope.

OP posts:
divingoffthebalcony · 07/10/2014 23:05

You're not being pathetic and I'm not surprised you feel at the end of your rope.

This doesn't sound entirely normal, so you need to push for more help. If the GP is no good, have you considered talking to a HV?
