Please god no!!

Has anyone else's DC stopped napping before 2? He normally has 1 hour after lunch from 1-2pm ish and today he has been in his cot for 30 mins and shows no sign of nodding off. Talking shouting and playing with toys loudly as we speak.

Hi, DS is also 22 months and just stopped the naps (I instigated it).

It's working well here. He sleeps til 8-10am and bed at 7. This really suits us. So going with it for now!

He does still fall asleep occasionally if out in the car or pram in the afternoon but they are 20-30 mins til we arrive somewhere and don't affect night sleep. So we are all happy with the arrangement! It's more a case of I'm not putting him down in the cot for a sleep any more. If he drops off that's fine.

If DS had to be up at 7am he would still be napping I'm sure.

I find no nap has made life more fun here! We aren't restricted in activities by nap time etc!

Don't panic yet!

Ds has the odd day where he goes through, but by and large he's begging by 12:30pm.

Could be a one off.

DD dropped hers at 18 months.

DS1 stopped 2 weeks after his 2nd birthday, when DS2 was 2 weeks old. I had desperately been trying to keep it for over a month, hoping there would be a point in the day we could all sleep......
You might find he will do a nap every 2 or 3 days for a bit......

DD stopped at 22 months at my instigation - it was keeping her up all hours at night, even just half an hour and she'd be up til 9ish at night making a racket and waking up DS. She's 26 months now and I insist on quiet time every day whilst DS naps. She watches tv in the lounge whilst I have my lunch in peace (she will not leave me alone otherwise). It also means she's not shouting and waking DS up during his nap as she is somewhat boisterous, and this time relaxing with tv/toys/books means she's ready for what the rest of the day brings and not grouchy.

Mine did. Nighttime sleep improved a lot. Don't panic!

Ds is 23 months and probably has 1-2 days a week when for whatever reason (not active enough a morning, being out at time he would normally nap, not eaten enough for lunch) where he doesn't nap at all. But on the other days he will still have an hour or more. So it might just mean he won't nap every day from now on. Nothing wrong with insisting on 'quiet time' in his cot though even when he doesn't nap.

18 months as well here. I was insanely jealous of what seemed like everyone else who got a bit of peace!

BotBotticelli · 05/10/2014 19:53

Thank you! Well he had 25 mins in the buggy at 3.15pm and by 6.30pm tonight he was absolutely beside himself with exhaustion, howled his way through bathtime and the bedtime routine and conked out at 18.55 which is early for him these days!

So I think he definitely still needs some sort of cot nap! But like you say maybe not every day, and he ha a very low key morning today (no hareing around the park like he normally does) so maybe he just wasn't tired enough.

My dd is 23 months and began seriously fighting her nap a month ago. We used to have the odd day, from about 18 months, where she missed her nap but she's really stepped this up - all of a sudden it's 50:50 whether she will nap or not. Her last nap was on Thursday, and that didn't happen until 2:30pm :( I feel your pain op. I keep searching online, only to find that most kids her age still nap 1-2:30 and sleep 7-7. No chance!
