Food-based activity in SE London?

Help! I was wondering if anyone remembers the details of a food based activity group in SE London - possibly Herne Hill or Dulwich? I think the idea was that fussy-eaters would play with food so that it became an object of enjoyment rather than stress.

Gipsy Hill Surestart do cooking sessions to try and get the kids to eat. I think they do them once a month on a Friday. They're at the Emmanual Church Hall on Clive Road (SE21). They have a full time nutritionist who is lovely. Her name is Sheferlee (not sure about spelling...).

I reckon you meant these people

mange tout

I dont know anyone who has been to any of their classes though, I just remember them promoting it when they launched.

Most effective method of all (which costs nowt) is to either eat or go hungry.

If you can't find a group, why not buy some vegetables and cocktail sticks and encourage your child to make animals? You could even combine that activity with a playdate and be sociable about it.

Another thought - you may wish to check out this group when they next head over here. DH and DS1 went a few years back and had a great time (neither has to my knowledge ever had a problem with eating vegetables, mind).

Hi - thanks for your responses, I think it was the Mange Tout classes I was thinking about. I did actually need this for a friend who has a 3 year old with a bordering-on-phobia problem with food. She practically does starve herself - to the point that on some days she only eats about 3-4 teaspoons of pasta and half a piece of toast all day (as a last resort she is given milk just to keep her going). Apparently she had a traumatic incident when weaning and is incredibly wary of food and chokes really easily. Some days she has practically no energy, and sleeps for 12 hours at night plus 2-3 hour naps during the day & she is having trouble settling at nursery because of lack of energy. The GP said he would refer her to a nutritionist but I'm thinking maybe some kind of therapy is needed instead, but don't know what.
