Screaming while changing

My 1 month old boy screams (and I mean screaming not crying) his head off when you change him from beginning to end. Is that ever going to get better? My toddler never used to do this and was a very content baby so this "screamer" comes as a bit of shock to me.

Come to think of it he never seems content apart from maybe for a few minutes every day. He's either asleep, feeding or screaming for a feed, doesn't seem to wake up unless hungry so it's hard to get some outside cot playtime in with him. Shall I wake him up before he's due a feed?

Just wanted to say that it will pass... My now 2.5 years old still can stay still when i change a nappy but at least he no longer cries!
it mist be frustrating to be one month old and not being able to do and say things!!
Enjoy the baby years :-)

Oh god I'd blocked out the Screaming whilst getting changed... It will pass.
I used to prop a baby book up where she could see it, can't remember if it helped.

I used to have a mobile above dd's change mat to distract her, would that help?

Two of mine were screamers. I'm sure the neighbours thought I must be murdering them sometimes the noise was so terrible. Yes, it will get better, when they get potty trained. The low point of DS's toileting career was when he was stood in the bath, naked apart from his nappy, throwing poo round the bathroom and screaming because he didn't want his nappy changed.

DD was distractable, DS never has been...at 15 months old he still screams the house down over nappy changes. Do you have one of those wet wipe warmers? I've heard they're great and that you can change a sleeping baby with no hassle as they barely register, unlike a nice cold wipe Grin

I thought they might be a waste of money so didn't buy one but perhaps it could help.

My DD was like that before but when I give her toys or anything that could get her attention for a while, she stops on screaming, In that way I can change her easily.

Could he be cold? My otherwise happy baby boy used to cry every time we undressed and changed him until we got a standing heater and from that point no more crying.
