10 month old dragging one leg crawling

Ds is my third child and we have has a few concerns in the past but mostly ruled out. (he had eeg for infantile spasms some months back which was ruled out. ) He was quite late sitting up (9 months without support) and started crawling about 1.5 weeks ago. Anyway, I'm not sure if it's anything to worry about as I know they all have their own ways of getting about but he doesn't seem to be using h's right leg. He s not bum shuffling but actually crawling but his left leg seems to always be in front with the other sort of dragging along behind.

As he's only been crawling a short while should I be co concerned or is t just his way of getting around do you think?

That's like it Frusso, he kind of sits on that leg, gets up and pulls it along lol

It could be hip dysplasia - are his leg creases even?

Might be worth asking the doc, they might want an ultrasound.

I'm a foster carer and I would say 1/3 of my babies have started crawling this way, and then walked no problem. Can he weight bear on both legs?

He does use his hands though Frusso, I mean he s 'crawling' but not working both legs iyswim?
I also notice more often than not he sits with that leg tucked in and the other outstretched. I haven't noticed h's creases noble. I'll have a look.

The only thing the paediatrician did note was his tone was 'variable' back at the time he was seen for his back arching episodes.

Caramel, he stands with support but is still wobbly/jerky. Normal at the age?

Have just been through this with dd2. Exactly the same. When we pushed health visitor and GP skin folds were not matching.
Had X-rays to rule out hip dysplasia and saw a paediatrician to check time etc.
All was well thankfully and walked just after her 1st birthday. Never did crawl properly.
I would get folds checked for reassurance anyway. Better to treat early if any treatment needed.

Thank you toddle. Can I have a look myself too? He has very chunky legs so quite deep creases. How do you check it at home?

Take off nappy. Lie baby on tummy if you can and try to match them up or you might be able to if baby is weight bearing/standing.

Thank you toddle. Just wondered also, would they have any probs sitting at first? Ds can sit fine now but it was 9 ml this before he could balance and support himself sitting up. He kept falling back and just seemed uncomfortable sitting upright up until then. He often sits with one leg outstretched and one folding in.
I'll have a look later.

Just checked his creases and they all look symmetrical and no extra ones o. either side.

Don't think 9 months is terribly late to sit up and if paediatrician not worried probable ok. Good to check creases anyway.
Think they are all different and do things differently.
Have taken a video to show dd when she is older:)

Just for peace of mind I would get him checked out again with a paediatric doctor.
