10 Month Old Biting

My 10 month old DS keeps biting - sometimes because I've put my finger in his mouth to remove something he's put in there ( at the moment everything is going in the mouth), but sometimes he'll give you a good bite, just for the 'fun' of it.

He's got nearly 6 teeth and it bloody hurts - what's the best way to get him to stop? A firm NO is often met with a 'cheeky' smile/laugh and I'd like to nip it in the bud before he goes to nursery.

I just say no and move mine away and stop playing for a half a min or so. Also I say yumyum when he picks up food and yuck if it's something else which does seem to be sinking in. But mine generally eats other things he finds when he is hungry so having Apple's he can get to is helping as well.

The health visitor suggested saying No and moving him away when he bites, at our 10m check up. I was a bit sceptical because he bit all the time - when playing, giving kisses, just walking over and biting me on the knee... I did it a few times and, touch wood, he hasn't bit me since (a couple of weeks). He still gives me slobbery kisses though.

I would add be careful with your no's try not to scream (or as he will see it be funny), this caused a bit of a set back at first for me, I had to learn to copy his dads response, a very calm no, move him away and carry on with something without him involved.
