I am really struggling with both kids at the minute

ds1 has been signed up for 6 sessions of speech therapy to 'improve his attention span'. His eyes wander off to look at something else within 2 seconds of you starting to talk to him, and the SALT thinks this is why he can't speak very coherantly - he doesn't watch and doesn't listen. I spend a huge proportion of most days trying to attract and keep his attention.

5 month old ds2 whines for a massive part of the day - partly I think because he would like more attention, but I am wrapped up with chasing ds1 around trying to stop him destroying my house. Partly because, I am starting to believe, he is that sort of baby. he wakes up between 2 and 4 am every night and cries and whinges for at east an hour - he doesn't want a feed, cuddles, rocking, anything. It seems like he is just protesting at being awake and refuses to go to sleep. He hardly drinks any milk now - he took 5 oz at 4 am, 1 oz at 9 am, probably won't drink anything (t6hrough choice!) until about 5, then will have 3 or 4 oz at 9-ish, maybe, will wake sometime in the night for no apparent reason....

I sound so negative but really I deal with it ok, but I am so tired today. I'm not even dressed yet.

Poor you. I have two kids and regulary have days like these. If it's any consolation it's an hour later where I am and i'm still not dressed yet either.

Poor you! My ds2 has speech problems and getting/keeping his attention isa work of art. Have you tried co-sleeping with your little one? It has certainly saved me from insanity! Are there times when your ds1 is occupying himself non-destructively? It's worth sitting him in front of a favourite video for a bit each day if necessary so you can give ds2 some positive one to one attention. Or try reading board books toigether in the middle of the night? My dd2 loves the Usborne "Thaty's not my monster/tractor/mermaid" type booksandhas since shewas tiny because they are touchy-feely. Goodluck!
