Activities for 7yo DS

Just that really...what activities do you do with your 7/8 year old DCs? I'm looking for inspiration to boost confidence of DS. He does footie and swimming but isn't really that bothered by either.

He's less of a team sports kind and so we're looking for a bit of inspiration. Give him his way, he'd play Lego or watch telly all day (which we don't allow him to but he would given half the chance) Sad

At that age, ds went to Beavers, and then Cubs.
Has been brilliant for him.

He did Beavers and it's been shockingly bad. He never left the hut. In two years. Didn't go anywhere apart from to a soft play for their outing as leader was so Blush . It's kind of put him off cubs I'm afraid

DS1 is 7 and does swimming, drama, school choir and horse riding. Maybe martial arts would appeal to your DS?

WipsGlitter · 10/09/2014 13:37

rugby, football, swimming, beavers, golf

Going out on his bike, play fighting, watching TV or playing on ipad. He has stacks of toys/lego but they are all so badly arranged he can't find anything to play with!

I would find a better cub pack & try a martial art

My children have chosen not to join any clubs.
My 7yo DD did the C25K with me and loved it. She regularly runs with me now and we have time to chat about things.
I also run with DS (17) and he talks almost nonstop during the run. I learn a lot about my children by spending time running with them one at a time.

Rugby, swimming, horse riding.

We're currently thinking of archery since we have a great set from decathlon with rubber tips and DS1 (9) is really very good at it.

DS does Swimming, Football, Rugby, Karate and plays the saxophone.

atticusclaw · 10/09/2014 20:14

Oh yes I forgot about instruments. DSs play the piano

Krustyandthekids · 10/09/2014 23:07

Love the idea of running but not actually doing it!! Wink

He also does guitar but perhaps a martial art would be good and channel his frustrations about his smaller brother!!

...reminds me, must also sort out Lego!!

Thanks all Thanks

DS has been in Beavers and is just finishing Cubs, will be joining Sea Scouts beginning of October, half a year early but he enjoys it and is fairly good at sailing. He also does rugby, football and tennis. Tennis is really good fun and DS really enjoys it. Playing an instrument is a good idea. DS has been playing guitar and piano since he was four and started lessons a year after. It's really useful and gets them off the electronics!

Alexaa · 10/09/2014 23:14

Martial arts are great as well, DTs (4) both want to start karate!

MegBusset · 10/09/2014 23:15

DS1 isn't a team player either... He has been doing karate for a year and absolutely loves it.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 11/09/2014 19:26

Neither of mine are really into team sports either but both love Cricket in the summer, just at our local club and both love karate.
