Hi all
I'm looking for some first hand tips on how to best deal with the clingy period.
DD won't let me move. She wants picked up CONSTANTLY to the point I can't do anything. She won't even play with her toys anymore and is always crying or moaning. Is this common?
I know general clinginess is typical and I think her nursery aren't helping as her key worker carries her about all the time.
Does anyone have any tips on how to help build her confidence up and deal with this stage..? Thanks.

Don't know if you work or not but have you tried taking her to local groups sure start or in churches maybe ask a friend with a similar age child that she knows to come or just brave it on your own and speak to the other mums invite them to meet up she might go off and play eventually if she sees others playing might take a few sessions they did wonders for my DS

I'm afraid I'm back at work, which I don't think has helped matters.. I'm just not too sure whether to go with picking her up all the time or try to ignore it when she screams to be carried!
I'm going to speak to her key worker at nursery to see how much she's carried about there..

Ahh in that case I would probably say to ignore and distract her with other things when you can. She's probably not old enough to understand yet but tell her anyway "mummy isn't going to pick you up why don't we play with this for 5 minutes and then I am going to wash up" etc and be consistent and ask nursery to do the same. With things like this I found it got worse when you start doing things differently took a little while then all of a sudden my DS would stop doing whatever it was. Consistency is key otherwise they can get confused. Good luck!
