We have our first Speech Therapy appointment soon and I am (weirdly) excited!

DD is 4 and has trouble with a lot of her sounds...and it's only now that DS, who has just turned 2, is talking a lot that I realise just how slow she has been in developing her speech.

So, for example, she can't say K and he can...she can't say G and he can...it's sort of made me sit up and notice it a lot more.

So our first speech therapy appointment is in a few weeks and I'm actually quite excited to finally be able to start helping her; her vocab etc are all good, so once she can get these particular sounds down her life will be so much easier.

Sorry, this isn't an overly interesting post for anyone else, I just felt like saying it. Grin

I know exactly how you feel and it's great that you have an appointment. We are now on the other side of this with DS recently being discharged from speech therapy. Seeing them develop is so rewarding for both you and your child. Good luck Smile

My son went last year when he was 4. He had a lisp, not only with s sounds but with about another 5 or 6 letters where he would say them by putting his tongue between his teeth. I thought we would be going forever but after about 6 sessions he was saying s properly and she assured us that the rest would sort themselves out and they did, it was amazing.

He loved going as she played games and made it fun.

Hope you see lots of improvement soon.

I understand how you feel, I was like this when DS1 started speech therapy.
Within a week or two his speech started to improve, as did his mood! He could make himself understood and he became much calmer as a result.
He still needs reminding every so often to concentrate on his pronunciation (especially when he's reading or is excited and can't get the words out quickly enough), but the improvement was fantastic. Though I do feel nostalgic sometimes for the days when he couldn't pronounce 's' and would sing 'A wailer went to wee, wee, wee'
