DD searched Internet for 'rude' stuff

My DD will be seven in November. She's bright, clever and advanced for her age. She has an iPad mini and today I looked at it, only to see that her Google search history contained things like 'pictures of a willy' and 'pictures of naked prople' I asked her why she wanted too see these and why she had searched the, she said she didn't know and agreed to ask me about these things in future instead of the Internet. Imconfident she didn't find anything as I have set really strict filters on the iPad but I'm worried why she would do that.

They talk about things like that at school at that age, so I'm sure she was looking it up to see what all the fuss was about.

I remember really wanting to know what a willy looked like, wish I'd never bothered now, they're ugly.

We also used to look up rude words in the dictionary for some unknown reason.

I think it's just an age thing but they have the internet now and not just photos in biology books to snigger at.

I think it's normal for that sort of age to be interested, but that's no reason why you shouldn't talk to her about it. Because if she's doing that, even with strong filters on you get the odd really bad image coming up. And she might then do it with a friend or somewhere else where there aren't fliters on.

I remember helping a group at school to search images for "Quentin Blake"-first set of images up included a picture he'd drawn-of a naked man full frontal. Shock Not what you'd expect to find at all.

I think I'd have done similar to you-talked to her for the first time. But I would have just added that I do and will check what she is watching (as I do with my dc, via an app). If it happened again then I would be removing ipad for a time.
