5yo DD has been accidentally biting her tongue for as long as I can remember, certainly over the last year. It's not every meal, or every week (although I'd miss anything that happened at nursery / school) but her big brother never does it, whereas she will often start to wail and show me her bleeding tongue.
Her speech is fine, she's bright and as far as I can see her teeth, jaw and tongue all seem ok
. Can there be a muscle weakness in tongues that mean they don't keep out the way when someone is eating?
The poor little soul looks so sad when she does it
. It doesn't seem to make any difference whether she is trying to talk, eating nicely at the table or even in the car (as she was today). Something in her mouth doesn't seem to be aligned properly
