2 week old has ingrown nail?

It's his thumb. It's slighty red, shiny and ever so slightly bigger than his other thumb. It has a yellowy bubble to one side of the nail.
It doesn't seem to be hurting him, as when we touch it he doesn't flinch, but he seems more unsettled than usual but he is only 2 weeks old so it might not be to do with his thumb.
What should I do? Do I pick it/prod it/poke it/leave it?
Thanks

You need to go the docs with it, immune system in newborns are very miniscule, get some antibiotics, if you pop it you are opening it up to more infection

Hi OP, my DS had this at a few days old, it's called a paronychia and you will need antibiotics. My GP referred me to the Children's Hospital so DS could be seen by a paediatrician.

Thank you both for replying. Doctors isn't open until Monday. What do I do? Will he be ok to wait til Monday or is it more urgent and if so what do I do/where do I go? Will a chemist have something? Do I go to a walk in centre? Or is it only a GP that will have what he needs?

I would take him to a walk in centre tomorrow morning, just to get it looked at as soon as possible, and to get started on ABs right away if necessary.
