You have my every sympathy. Thank god I am past that stage, though I remember pacing up and down, round and round the living room, singing my own made up song (which was basically, if you don't stop crying and go to sleep, then I'll take you out and leave you somewhere - or words to that effect
).
Ds2 didn't sleep for longer than 2 hours at a time until he was 6 months old. I thought I was going to die of sleep exhaustion (if that's possible). I looked after my friends dd when she was 12 months (just over 2 years ago), from 8 till 5.30. I was absolutely shattered at the end of the day.
Every baby is an individual, and what works for one baby, doesn't mean it will work for another. And even if it works one day, that doesn't ensure it will work again.
Be kind to yourself. It's still early days. Dh used to take ds2 put for a walk round the block when he was tiny, just so that I could have a bath and 1/2 hour to myself. He slept in the pram if you walked, but as soon as you stopped, even to cross the road, he would wake up and start crying again.
If ds1 had been like that, I would have had implants
There was one particular song which stopped ds2 from crying, but he also had to be in his bouncy chair, being gently rocked at the same time. It's amazing how adept you get at being able to eat your tea and also rock a bouncy chair with your foot, whilst chatting to ds1 about school, dh about work, and the cats (about nothing in particular).
