Jack teething really badly! 2 at the same time, his bum is red raw with blisters, I'm using sudocreme, also given him calpol & ibuprofen (& teething granules!?!) But ... He won't eat & has only taken 5oz of milk so far today, what else can I do or is it just a ride it out & keep the meds going? .... xx

Lots of nappy off time, as much fluids (milk or water, not juice as it's acidic and will affect urine) as possible. Anbesol worked far better than teething gel for my DS so worth a try. Depending on age, lolly ices / cucumber sticks to chew on will help too.

Poor chap. Give him whatever he will eat (cold yoghurt is often a winner) and don't worry too much about the food, he won't starve.

Do give him the meds, the doses are so low anyway, it won't hurt him if you stay within the guidelines. Teething gel useless for DD but ibuprofen helps.

Metanium is supposed to be better than sudocrem for bad nappy rash.

Bickiepegs seem to help my DD, as does teething powder (I think because it's basically sugar Hmm).

Co sleeping helps at night (for mine anyway)

Thanks all! It's the poor bugger not eating & a butt like a baboon that seems to be so bad Confused

I he has blisters then sudocrem is useless. See the GP or nurse prescriber for something else as it could be a thrush based rash. My DDs both got nappy rash that went from a bit red at one nappy change to blistered and bleeding half an hour later while teething. Daktocort is brilliant for nappy rash but is prescription only.

Keeping the cream in the fridge seems to help sooth the rash as well.

Thank you crazycat ... I'll take him tomorrow if it's still bad, never knew they could get so sore :((

We use Ashtons and Parsons teething powder and find it much better than regular teething gels. We also washed teething nappy rash with cooled boiled water and cotton wool so wipe ingrediants couldn't irritate it. Hope LO starts feeling happier soon! x

I've had success with bleeding nappy rash with spray on cream (boots own brand sudocreme equivalent) to reduce the amount of touching the area.

I got DS a Sophie giraffe the other day and he chewed it vigorously for 20 minutes then took personal offense at it!
