Ds is 3.9 and cannot leave it alone. Ever. It's become much more noticeable lately. When out and about he grabs it (hands outside of shorts or trousers, not inside) to the point were we can no longer use it as a signal that he needs a wee, as that's what he used to do when je needed one. I know that little boys and men have a life long relationship with their bits, but he's doing it all the time. Is this normal? What can I do about it? I don't mind him doing it at home but he doesn't understand why he can't do it in public when we tell him no. He just ignores us.

Would he accept a small toy as a 'fiddly thing' instead? My youngest is a terrible fiddler and likes to have something in his hands at all times..

My boss still does ..... he's 42

Distract him. Give him something to hold when he's out e.g. a favourite toy.

My ds does this - we try and give plenty of naked time so he can get his fix Hmm and when out give him some Lego to fiddle with!

I have 3 boys. Eldest 24, youngest 3 and I can say that the eldest does it a bit less than the youngest (in public anyway). 3yo clutches his willy when he's excited about something.

But my opinion is that if I had a dangly thing between my legs, it'd require a lot of "adjusting" too especially wearing pants. Must be very trappable.

Also, I have a 18mo dd and she clutches her 'willy' just as much as the boys do.
