If so, did it work? I wonder if it is possible to use it with a toddler (dd2) although I could see dd1 responding.

Works with my older child (7), not my 4 yr old though. Think Steve Biddulph is great btw.

my DC's would so not take this technique seriously.... sorry

stoppinattwo · 17/09/2006 20:48

they are 7 and 4 btw, think it just depends on the child

Yes, Pruni, I think that's kind of the thing. I did give it a go at bedtime with dd1 (don't like too much heavy handedness at bedtime but she was really kicking off) and she did respond to it, but although he says it works with toddlers I just don't know about dd2. But I really rate what he says about parenting in general so thought it might be worth a go.

yes, I do use something like this technique. It is flexible, so you can use it anywhere. if we are in a restaurant I find a quiet place somewhere to talk.
I think it is a bit more humane that the "naughty step" but effectively it is just a technique to take the heat out of a situation.
I started to use something like it from about ?18 months?

hmmm, I don't think I ask her to stand, ever. I quite like the technique of asking you to make tran track. good distraction.

Harpsichordcarrier, how did it work with a toddler? Tried it with dd1 and it is a dream, I haven't needed to get her to go to the corner yet and am wondering if they have one at school? Certainly think she has come across it somewhere. With dd2 I have put a beanbag in the corner of the room and have sat with her on it, but don't know if this is a good way to go esp. as things tend to kick of when I am feeding baby ds.
