'Carry me upstairs mummi I'm tired', 'Carry me downstairs my legs hurt' or carry me whilst we are walking around town etc

He is a very energetic little boy and can run around our local park for hours, if he's having fun he never asks for a carry.

I say you are a school boy now and don't get carried, but dh often gives in to him.

Personally, unless ill or asleep I feel he should be walking everywhere now. Do you still carry your 4 year old?

I guess he does it because a) it saves his legs and b) he likes the cuddle aspect. Why not try limiting carrying to certain times? Eg - not outside\daytime, but he can have a carry up the stairs to bed. Therefore he knows he is getting one every day, but that it not seen as necessary/desirable the rest of the time.

In answer to your last question, no I never did (they are a bit older now!)

No, not since he turned 4. Sometimes he gets to go in DS2 buggy when he has been walking for a long time.

DH often carries him up the stairs to bed, but not when we are out and about. Your DH must be pretty strong, I know that my DH loved carrying him and now often sticks DS2 on his shoulders mostly because it makes him feel proud.

I would just tell him that mum can't because she isn't strong enough. If DH wants to do it, I don't see the harm, he will stop soon enough as your son gets too big.
