Bed wetting - late regression

DS has been dry at nights since just before 3. He's now 6.5. Of course we've had the odd accident - ill, over tired so sleeping very deeply, but usually not very often. Periods of months of no problems then the odd week or so where he has a couple of accidents. But now he's wetting the bed ever night, usually about 5 or 6 am.

I think the reason might be overtiredness because of the hot weather - then it becomes a vicious circle - knackered so sleeps too soundly, wets bed, wakes up, disturbed sleep, even more knackered.

Does anyone have any suggestions? We're going camping this weekend, then a relative's for a week, then a cottage for a week, so bed wetting is going to be really hard to handle due to lack of laundry facilities.

Hopeful/desperate bump... My washing machine will thank you. My sleep patterns will be so grateful they will make you cake.

Any chance he's constipated? That can cause bed wetting, I've heard. And apparently sometimes it's easy to miss as they can amass quite a bit in there while other stuff issorry for the gross picture!squeezing around it... Here's an article on it: www.webmd.com/children/news/20120130/study-constipation-may-cause-bedwetting

You are unlikely to solve this quickly, so I would recommend trying to find ways of managing the bed wetting while away, rather than expecting to solve the problem.

My son similarly regressed at about the same age. With him we discovered it was down to a water-only policy change at school (he previously drank 1 litre of squash during the school day). It meant he wasn't drinking in the day but was very thirsty and drank lots from 4pm onwards when home. It was solved by enforced drinking through the day in order to reduce the quantity drank in the evenings.

To manage in the mean-time I would recommend bed mats, 'bedtime pants' (as we called them) and accepting/planning for increased bed linin washing.

Thanks for the suggestions. Bedtime pants and mats bought this morning. I think you could be right Waffle about the drinking - I wonder if holiday club (too much bouncing around, not enough time to pause and realise he's thirsty) is part of the problem? And that in turn could cause constipation as Linguaphile suggests.

But I'll work on lots of drinks during the day while we're away, and practical measures to mitigate things - bed pads, pants.
