Hi all,

Last night I decided to take ds's 'cot side' off his cot. (It is very low and more like a cotbed and one side is against wall)
Dh put him to bed at 7.30 and ds got out of bed 4 times. Dh put him back to bed each time. Thought it best that parent who put to bed 1st should see it through.
He fell asleep soon after and didn't wake in the night, so pleased.
I put him down for a nap around half hour ago as usual and he is playing in his cot, hasn't got out once. Should I let him play in cot? I figure at least he is in his cot! lol.
Not sure how to do this, so any tips are welcome.

yeah i'd just leave him in there. he'll fall asleep eventually

Thanks, I thought he would, oh I think he is up now. He seems to be taking entire contents of toy box to bed!
I have got a cctv monitor in his room and am watching him. Alot of his toys are out, should I shut them away at bed times?

Didnt have any probs with dd she was 18mths...
we bought her a pillow from disney and she looks for it for nap and bed time... works for us..

Then again she has always been good at bedtime.

good luck..xx

i'd maybe just go in and put him back in bed. just say something like "bedtime now" and put him back in his cot.
how old is he?

mumfor1standfinaltime · 13/09/2006 14:41

Hi I have just been up and said ' lay down now and get some sleep' and given him a cup of milk. He seems tired.
He is 20m. He has always been a good sleeper, and he usually adapts quickly to new things.

It is going better than I thought, I have put a chair in front of my bedroom door! Our house is a new build so everything is easy reach!

i'm sure he'll get used to it pretty quickly. My ds is the same age and we've just put him into a bed too

Thanks for support. It feels weird in a way as I feel that he isn't a baby anymore now lol! I have bought him a bed but thought it may be easier to try taking side off cot first, maybe I will dig the bed out of the loft soon! Scarey!

yeah i know what you mean. I almost got all tearful when we took the cot down. he's growing up!

mumfor1standfinaltime · 13/09/2006 15:04

He is now a little boy and it freaks me out!! He is still awake but he is in cot, think I may have to give up soon and bring him down as I want him to sleep tonight!

Successful night number 2! Ds almost fell asleep at the dinner table tonight as he had no sleep at nap time, I put him to bed at 6pm tonight and he didn't even leave his cot! Too tired I suppose lol!

Just after more advice. Ds is sleeping really well at night times and hasn't woken in the night etc. The thing which is puzzling me now is day time naps - basically he won't stay in bed! He used to sleep for a good 1.5-2 hrs a day and last few days he has been falling asleep at the dinner table and in bed by 6pm!
Any tips?
