Ok so I know Ds isn't completely deaf.. he turns when I make certain noises but doesn't answer to his name (I have even considered autism but he shows no other red flags) he shows no response when I shout 'NO!' If he's doing something dangerous and he doesn't dance to music, sometimes if there's a real beat he will tap his foot or hand like he's feeling the best rather than hearing the music...
But if I creep behind him and say I'm going to get you he crawls away laughing.. so he must be able to hear me right?
He's 13 months

He could well have a hearing problem. The GP can refer you to audiology for a hearing test. Early intervention is key so if he does have a bit of a loss it's good to find out soon.

Could there be another reason he doesn't dance? Is it a milestone?

Just ask for a proper hearing test. Both mind had glue ear type hearing loss at that age but it was gone by 3. Nothing was done, but we had 3 monthly hearing tests while I had concerns and if if had not sorted itself out I was already in the system. PM me if you want more info Grin

He missed his 1 year check up so I have that in a few weeks. Would I best to wait until then and speak to the health visitor or make an appointment with my gp?

Gp can easily refer it make sure they do. HV's fobbed me off, they were wrong.

jaynebxl · 16/07/2014 06:40

No don't wait. It's the GP who will make the referral.

LairyPoppins · 16/07/2014 06:41

Yes, get his hearing checked. I would go to GP.
