Schedule for 7 month old twins - not getting it quite right!

My boy/girl twins were born 6 weeks premature and spent 3 weeks in neonatal unit until they learnt to feed. Both are bottle fed. The last month or so has been really tough as our schedule (which I need to stay same and get out of the house) doesn't seem to work anymore. I have tinkered around the edges but with no success.

7am get up ( twins have usually been awake/shuffling around for up to an hour with musical mobiles in their cots)
7.30 8oz bottle and weetabix with left over milk from bottles plus fruit purée
9ish - 1 hour nap
Play
11ish - lunch, home made baby food (usually protein + veg + pulses/grains)
12 - 1 hour nap
Between 2 and 3 - 8oz bottle
3.30 - afternoon nap - 1 hour
5pm - tea ( usually same as lunch without veg which was making them very windy before bed)
6.30 start bedtime routine - asleep for 7 after 8oz bottle

Things to note: hv told me to drop the 11am bottle but twins won't have water at the moment so I give them a bit of milk after lunch but they will only take a few sips.

  1. Neither seems entirely satisfied with lunch and I don't get the few hours of calm time that I used to get after a milk feed.
  1. Baby girl twin struggles with having more than 45 mins at morning nap and is very sleepy through lunch.. I have tried replacing her dummy etc to encourage a longer nap but just don't think she is tired enough to have longer despite eye rubbing etc from 8.15am until I put her down.
  1. At lunchtime nap, if I am out in the car our stop pushing buggy etc then this nap can be a power nap and can be as short as 15 mins... They then take a bit of convincing to go back to sleep after an hour or so of grumpiness but it interferes with afternoon nap timing.
  1. Baby boy fights every milk feed and often will only take 2-3 oz's for his morning feed.

If they were happy between feeds then I would honestly not be concerned with the lack of schedule and could work round naps etc but they are cranky! Generally they sleep ok ( self settle etc) until about 4am then go back until 6am.

Other things that are contributing are lots of frustration with not been able to crawl and wanting to naw on everything. Baby boy constantly rolls onto his front them screams even though he knows how to roll back! I've been down the "it must be teething" route but none of the teething remedies get rid of the crankiness.

Any advice on how to get my relatively contented twins back would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Are you feeding on demand or are these times you are feeding to make the rest of the day run to schedule? It must be tricky with two but if you keep solids to a schedule and milk feeds on demand you may find they're a bit more contented.

My b/g twins were 7 weeks prem, 2 weeks on SCBU same reason as yours they are nearly 23 months now. also bottle fed. I agree with Mogz, milk on demand meals on schedule. I think you need to just go with the flow, you will be forever tinkering with schedules etc as each developmental milestone will create other issues. Once they can crawl and rollover things will seem easier for at least a week before something else comes up, like walking or teething, the list is endless. I found if my two were topped up with milk things weren't too bad. You may find that although DS doesn't take much milk in the morning he may like some an hour later. If they are in control of their feeds I think this helps.
