Always moaning about the little buggers....what have your dds /dss done to make your proud this week?

DD1 got all her times tables right in a test on Friday and DD2 swam like a fish to get her 5 metres badge on Sunday.
She was like a brick when she first started and the teacher was so impressed with her improvement he got her out the pool to shake her hand

Well done to them both charliecat
Dd started preschool this week and is almost able to dress herself including pants on right way, socks and shoes - she was only three in August.
Ds won some team points for being uncharacteristically on message when his class were moving around the tables

he left me gobsmacked when he touched his head when someone asked him "where's your head?". had no idea he knew the word! he then proceeded to do the same with tummy and nose.

aghast, i was (and very pleased, of course).

badkarma · 11/09/2006 11:41

dd walked right into school this morning from the gate without needing me to leave her at the classroom

ds (20months) said BARBIE when he saw her on dds pyjamas and then said "barbie boobies"

My DD has finally learned to swim without her arm bands, I am so proud of her

Issymum · 11/09/2006 11:46

DD1 (5), who has been feeling unwell this weekend said to me in the sitting room "I feel sick Mummy" and without prompting, walked briskly to the cloakroom and threw up very neatly in the loo. When she'd finished (I was there of course) she said she felt better now and please could she have a drink of water.

I marvel at her composure and feel that she is acquiring life-skills for her student years.

I was in the process of telling DD (4) off, for a really untidy room after a friend was round to play ...'and why did you pull your duvet and all the soft toys that live on the end of your bed all over the floor?' DS (6) came through from where he was tidying his room, and said 'actually Mummy it was me and X who pulled the duvet off, not DD and her friend'

I was so chuffed that he had owned up completely off his own bat

hoxtonchick · 11/09/2006 11:48

my ds has taken to school like a pro, i'm very proud of him. dd has added kissing to her repertoire which is extremely sweet.

serenity · 11/09/2006 11:48

DS1 tied his shoelaces by himself this morning with no help at all from me - I've only shown him a few times (I'm such a slack Mum, he's 8 but I've never sat down with him and tried before)

charliecat · 11/09/2006 18:05

Anymore proud mummys?

dd can(2) has learnt to say her 7 week brother's name, she goes over to his cot and goes ' hello juner(junior) and he coos back to her!! its soooooooo sweet

UrsulatheSeaWitch · 11/09/2006 18:17

It was our anniversary yesterday (a big one). Entirely unprompted DS2 took most of his paper round money and bought me a lovely bunch of flowers and a box of Thorntons. I was really really thrilled

beckybrastraps · 11/09/2006 18:22

Dd counted to 11. Doesn't sound like much, but she has had significant speech delay and I had no idea she knew any numbers until she showed me the 11 green tomatoes she'd pulled off the plant all neatly lined up. Torn between rage and delight. Delight won

KBear · 11/09/2006 18:24

My DD gave DS a big hug round the neck whilst balancing lunchbag and school bag in the other hand on his first morning of school on Friday. A real big sister squeeze of good luck.

This morning she was moaning about having a bigger bedroom so therefore had more floor to tidy up and he said "if you don't like your room you can come and sleep in mine". (You can't win can you? - We did have a chat later about me and daddy having a nice big mortgage so she could have a big bedroom to moan about )

schneebly · 11/09/2006 18:26

DS1 drew a really clear picture of his face at nursery (he is 3) and was really excited to show me - bless him! It had hair and ears and everything but had the arms and legs coming out of his head!

DS2 (20 months) has excelled with his politeness by saying please and ta all the time - the old dears love it!

schneebly · 11/09/2006 18:27

Well done to all the other lovely DSs and DDs on here too!

hollyhobbie · 11/09/2006 19:02

Today DD (17months) learnt to say 'banana'. She pronounces it 'Mammy'!
It's nice to hear her breathily saying my name, even if it's not really me she's talking about!

crazydazy · 11/09/2006 19:07

DS finally gave up his night time bottle in favour of a cup. He said that now he's at big school he needs his big boy's cup.

He hasn't asked for it once.

Cassoulet · 11/09/2006 19:17

My dd brought 2 library books home from school today, one about donkeys and one about horses. She asked me to sit reading quietly with her; I flicked through the donkey book, she read the horse book. At the end of the donkey book was a quiz. DD's attention was caught by the pictures and decided to leave the horses and do the quiz with me. One question was "what would you use to move your donkey a long way? A horse box, A car, A lorry". As a joke I said "Well, not a horse box - that's for horses". DD said "No, mum, it's for equidae"! She's just 7.

hulababy · 11/09/2006 19:27

DD started school last week on Tuesday. And in the space of the week she has started learning to read, and now knows a fair few words and is doing well

She has also stunned me on how confident she has been at school, and she just seems more grown up in the space of that one short week!

pointydog · 11/09/2006 19:29

dd2 (7) made up a joke: if you went to the chippy for lunch at High School with a friend, what do you get?
Friend-chip!

Not a good advert for healthy eating though.

I got an "I wuv you too mumma" from ds2 today, with a really dainty little kiss - so sweet! And ds1 did all his reading practice without a single whinge today, very shocking seeing as there are so many words for him to do! And they both were in bed snoring by half seven tonight....one happy mellow mama over here!

Toady · 11/09/2006 19:57

My DD2 (2.9yrs) told me and DS3 to stay in the bedroom while she went to the toilet. She did a wee and a poo in her potty and tipped it into the toilet herself and then came out and jumped all over my bed with a pooey bum . She has only been potty trained for 4 weeks.

Tickle · 11/09/2006 20:04

Tonight i was pushed off the sofa at bedtime story time, as dd1 was reading to ds1 and dd2 She was reading her school reading book and had only been reading a short time. The two smaller ones were entranced
