Is this teething?

dd is 8 months old and has no teeth. This week she has been a little twisty but nothing major, but has had runny nose, and really loose poos. Then the last 2 days she has developed nappy rash really quite bad, which is sore when I wipe it. I think this may be classic signs that a tooth is on its way, but I am afraid she may have a bug and that I should be taking her to the GP/HV. She has not been sick and is still eating although not as much as normal, but is fussy eater anyway. Advice would be appreciated thanks, oh and do I give her Calpol in case she is in pain, cos she is not a crying baby and has quite a high pain threshold, (does not cry when she bupms herself etc) IYSWIM

I took ds2 to docs, loose poo, rash, he was a bit under the weather, doc put it down to teething, prescribed calpol.
A few days later he was fine.
His first tooth came about a month after that.

When they start teething you can actually feel the little buds on the gums where the teeth are pushing through, it takes a while from when you can see the buds and feel them until they come through. My ds had no side effects apart from drooling and chewing his fingers alot.

I'd say you are probably right about the teething, I use bonjela (normal one) taste of anise and it lasts around 3 hours. If you think she might have some discomfort, rather than too much calpol.

Thanks for this- can not feel any buds at all under the gums, nor can I see anything. I am giving her Calpol twice a day, but I am more concerned about her getting dehydrated from the loose poos, its difficult to get any water into her. even if I took her to doctors, I dont think they would do much apart from give her calpol. She has no rash of fever, and does not seem to be in any real pain apart from nappy rash.

dd has two little pin pricks on her gums which I think are teeth- so I was right!!!
