Thumbsucking & Rubbing

My DD(3yr) is a thumb-sucker, which I don't really mind, but she also picks/rubs the bridge of her nose when thumb-sucking. The area is constantly red and sometimes bleeds and rarely gets a chance to heal. No amount of reminding, correcting, plasters seem to make any difference. I'm worried she'll scar her face, but most advice tends to be to wait it out and either she'll give up herself or at 7/8 she can be more easily persuaded. I'm trying no to let the issue dominate and would appreciate any advice. Thanks

I would stop the thumb sucking. I had to stop my older Dd...and her teeth were still affected. I stopped her doing it at 4...I used to just keep removing her thumb gently and saying "No...it's not good for you" and eventually she stopped.

At night I'd sneak in and take her thumb out...I know it went back in but the pattern was broken slowly.

Thanks MrsWinnibago, I'll try the gentle persuasion!

I would stop her now as some people continue to suck their thumbs in adulthood.
It's a nightmare to stop. You are just going to have to keep pulling it out, telling her and reward stickers.
With my son I nagged him in the day to stop. Pulled it out when asleep. I also wouldn't let him suck it in the car seat. He then learnt to fall asleep in the car seat not sucking it which helped at night. I used horrid tasting nail vanish - he just sucked it off. But give it ago. Put a ton of vasaline on her nose so it doesn't feel so nice to touch. Put gloves on her when she's asleep at night. Or even cotton gloves during the day. It took me ages to crack it and I never thought I would.
