Dd has just turned 5 and has no pronounced arch in her feet.
About 18 months ago we took her to a podiatrist sho said that her feet were very flexible but not hypermobile and as long as she wasn't in any pain, not to worry too much. But they gave us some inserts to put in her shoes to strengthen the arches. But they've made no difference.
She's been at school for nearly a year now and I've noticed that she is running very differently to the other children. She runs very flat-footed and almost heels first. She also can't hop for more than a couple of hops and can't balance on one foot. When she tries her foot just rolls in.
She is very small for her age (in 3-4 age clothes and just 97cms tall) and she didn't walk until she was 18 months old, so could this be related? Are her feet just developing later than others?
I guess we will need to go back to the podiatrist but I was wondering whether anyone else has experienced anything similar with their child?
Thank you.
