DD (nearly 5 if she makes it that long!) doing reinactment of screaming banshee... HELP

There was me thinking dd would sort of settle down a bit with school starting and her being able to play with her little friends. She'd become rather 'contrary' over the summer...

So what happened in the last 30 minutes? Me asking her nicely to let me use MY computer for 5 minutes and then she can continue playing on it for as long as she likes. She 'no', but of course I took over the computer anyhow only to have her tell me that she hates me and then trying to kick me! I ignored so she gave up and went into the living room. I went in there to have a cup of tea and she starts hitting me! I tell her calmly ... we don't hit people and definitely nto without a reason. She then proceeds to poke tongue out. I told her not to do it or TV is being put to ds's programme and no more for her... queue... screaming fit, to which I gave 3 warnings with 'you're off to your room if you keep this up', which of course she did... so I picked her up and carried her to her room. Q more screaming and I shut the door. Frantic screaming for mama so I open door and ask if she's ready to be a bit more quiet and apologise to mama. NO. So in the end I lost it and asked her whether she wants me to scream the way she does. No reaction except for tongue poking out again so I did my best banshee scream which scared the living hell out of her. She stopped screaming but now she's lying in her bed sobbing . I did apologise for scaring her and explained why I did it...

HELP. What am I doing wrong or is it only another phase?

I know for a fact had dh been home she would have ended up in her room much earlier topped with a slapped bottom and early to bed with no priviledges.

Has she just started school?? If so I found DS1's behaviour 'deteriorated' (sp) rapidly when he first started (thankfully improved after the first 2 or 3 months.

2-3 months? Shoot me now!

Actually her behavour has gotten gradually worse over the summer so I was haphazarding that she is missing the routine/structure from her 2.5h in nursery hence was hoping 'big school' would help. Instead I have 'Lil' miss mega strop'.

At least now she's calmed down. I think the tantrum 'only' lasted 30 mins but trust me it felt very very very long.

waffle away that's what I did... ah yes coping with anger... it is hard, dh still has problems now and he's 38 , so why am I expecting dd to control it? Because she's so much noisier than dh when she gets angry LOL

My dh has just started "big school" and she has become a "horrible child". She talks back to me, throws mega tantrums (which she never did in the "terrible twos" when I was expecting it). I walked her home from after-school club yesterday evening with her little friend (who I have for half an hour at the end of the day) with my dd screaming at the top of her lungs because her friend told me what my dd had had for her pudding at school dinners and she wanted to tell me herself. Her poor little friend just looks at me as if to say "sorry" and then tries to diffuse the situation for me!!! She is constantly throwing things, hitting out (at me especially), calling her Dad an "idiot". I tried to talk to her about her attitude when she was laid in bed yesterday evening and she just turned away and refused to even give me a goodnight kiss. I have tried taking special things away from her (which worked for a week) and have now threatened her with losing her Baby Annabelle doll. I have smacked her bottom (not proud but felt I had no choice) and she just laughed at me. I am beginning to think I am losing control big time. I think she behaves okay in school (certainly have not been told anything to the contrary) so it is just at home that is a nightmare. I am getting embarrassed to take her anywhere. Help!!
