how on earth to entertain 10 month old

Now DS is a bit older he gets bored so easily. He seems to hate toys, he'll play with them about once for 10 minutes when they're new, then he's bored of them and will maybe give them a 30 second glance once in a while.
I'm just looking for ideas on how to keep him entertained?
I do take him swimming (live opposite the pools so that's an easy one, but it's a bit expensive to do everyday at £7 for an hour or so. I take him to soft play but it's in the next town so have to get the train for that and I do take him to parks etc, When we're out he is very happy, when we're home he is incredibly grouchy and bored.

So, how on earth do you keep your 10 month old entertained when you're at home?

If the weather is warm paddling pool in the garden?

I look after a 7 month old.

At home we do :

Sensory play - shaving foam, ice-cubes, gloop,
Painting
Play with treasure basket - full of weird household objects; loofah, toothbrush, measuring spoons, fir cone
Water play - fill a shallow tray and put all the bath toys in
Read books
Play with toys - we have different toys in different rooms so we move around a lot [change of scene always helps]
Playdough

Water was always a hit as well as dancing to music and musical instruments.

Are there any parks nearby for swings and the slide ?

I'm in the garden a lot with my 10mo, few books, few toys, walker & water-filled tummy tub (any baby bath or bucket would substitute) and a few kitchen utensils to play with. That, and the tap on the water butt seem to work better than anything indoors at the moment. Pains to entertain, aren't they? Grin

Is he mobile yet? My DS was really hard work to entertain until the day he started crawling. From that day on he pretty much entertained himself, just exploring everywhere.

Yeah he's crawling, he entertained himself for a few days exploring after learning to crawl but now if left to his own devices he'll find something dangerous no matter how hard I try!
Thanks :) lots of good ideas shall be trying a few out tomorrow, was getting in a bit of a panic because I couldn't think of anything to do with him but I don't want him to be bored.
No garden unfortunately, but my parents live close by so might have to make use of theirs, with the added bonus of getting a bit of a break whilst they inevitably want to play ;)

Thank you for your ideas I also struggle with this.

I think I will have an experiment with the sensory play on my next day off. I always think my ds is too young.
