Repeated injuries

Has anyone else got a child who keep injuring themselves? Nothing too serious but a broken hand and wrist were the worst (different hands and times) mostly seem to be sprains and bruising at least once a month but occasionally more.
Nothing untoward is going on, it just seems to be daft injurys like, getting fingers trapped in doors, tripping up and falling off scooters!
I don't want to go to the docs every time as it's usually a quick check, all is fine take some pain meds. But on the other hand if I don't go I may miss something serious.
She's known for it at school, gets upset if she can't do things because she's hurting so don't think she's putting it on, although I don't rule out a bit of exaggerating.
Annoyingly we don't have a walk in centre so it's either the a and e or doctors.
According to the doctor last week, we went due to her fingers still hurting a few weeks after she whacked them off a table (twice!) it's just normal kids being kids, but is it?
I only have the one child and not much experience of other children so much now so not entirely sure of what is normal, she's since hurt her foot standing up on it but with the toes under rather than flat on the floor, why I do not know!
Any other accident prone kids out there?

My eldest is very accident prone and is clumsy and has had a lot of tumbles (falling down stairs every couple of days). It turned out she had Joint Hypermobility Syndrome, which causes clumsiness, easier injury, and longer healing. Her legs were rotated so she kept falling over her own feet.

Standing with toes under foot does sound a bit odd - is she 'double jointed'?

She is quite flexible I suppose but nothing out of the ordinary, her foot still hurts a bit and she's just come home with a bruise on her leg from being whacked hard with a baseball in pe, maybe she's just unlucky!

Has she had an eye test recently?

BigPigLittlePig · 24/06/2014 10:13

Not a day goes by without my dsd catapaulting herself off of/into/under some sort of solid object. She is permanently black and blue - and it is as though she literally does not see the ruddy great obstacle in front of her before bang! and ohh, anoher injury. Thankfully no broken bones yet but it can only be a matter of time. You're definitely not alone!

I would suggest an eye test and her the doctor to look for any inner ear issues (of they can without a referral to an ENT specialist).

However, my LO is very accident prone and rather tactile too. He likes running his fingers along walls, hence crushed fingers in a door jam and a trip to A&E!

Her eyes are fine, she has a slight prescription but nothing major, they were tested last month :) not thought of inner ear issues, although with a bad cold they do tend to be blocked, only discovered when she could only hear me after I yelled several times and by then was rather annoyed, she wondered what she had done wrong, only hearing the annoyed yell rather than the normal asking voice, oops, they were tested a while back and not really had any further problems so think they are ok, might just be one of those things :/

I am this clumsy, it’s as if my limbs swing freely because I’m always sweeping things off of surfaces and kicking everything in my path. I guess some people are just clumsy but if you think there’s something else going on it wouldn’t hurt to ask the GP. Has she always been like this?
