Talking by rote

DD3 is mostly fine, but sometimes, from out of nowhere, and completely unrelated to anything we are doing, she will start reciting large chunks of books or tv programmes by rote. I read somewhere that this can be a sign of autism. But she is very affectionate, engages well with others etc. Should I worry, or will she grow out of it?

My nephew went through a phase of doing this. It didn't last very long.

His brother has aspergers - he might too, but they both manage school/nursery well and are generally happy.

My DS has a diagnosis of slight aspergers and he has plenty of friends.

Regarding your DD - on the autistic spectrum or not, it's probably not anything to worry about. Smile

Thanks. That's reassuring.
