Any tips or advice re winding? Getting really desperate and down

Hi everyone.
DS2 is 3 weeks old, so still very little and understandably, his body's still adjusting to all the new things it has to do now he's here, but winding is a HUGE problem. Does anyone have any tips/things they've found helped which might be worth me trying?
Infacol seems to have very little effect. Had some advice to try boiled water but that seems to do little to help. DH and I are trying all manner of positions to wind him during and after a feed but he seems to be getting worse and less settled by the day. We're were advised by one midwife to try anti-colic bottles, but I've also heard lots of people say they'd shelled out on these and not seen any difference on them.

Now we're at the stage with most feeds where he takes an ounce and falls asleep as he feels full, then wakes shortly afterwards feeling starving hungry but unwilling to take his bottle because he's also writhing in pain. We can feel the bubbles under our hands when we hold him, but just can't seem to get them to budge sufficiently. Every day we have hours at a time where he howls. DH and I have concluded that sleep is over-rated as we get a couple of hours at most on a good night.
It's furstrating and I feel for the discomfort he must be in.
He was a few weeks early, but certainly not premature, was a normal delivery and a good weight for being early.
Any help or advice would really be appreciated!!!

A sling like a Moby or Close Caboo to keep him upright?

MrsHelenBee · 30/05/2014 12:07

Hadn't thought of that, thanks. Trying to keep him upright as much as possible. When they're so little, it's not easy as they naturally slump like little versions of old people don't they? Grin Wonder if he's also be in a little heap in a sling. Not sure what a caboo is.

It's just a sling that doesn't involve wrapping.

Feed him in an upright position for starters. I also found rubbing my babies belly in a clockwise position as you feed and after might help. My osteopath told me this helps move the wind through the intestines rather than it getting trapped. Could not guarantee it worked though. You could also look in to a baby massage course as I think some of the stuff I learned there did help. I guess my tips are mainly for when burping hasn't worked and baby gets upset with trapped wind. Oh and cycling my babies legs and moving them in a clockwise circle tucking up to chest then down to straight (If you see what I mean) helped.
