Do you find it hard to admit you're wrong?

Or apologise to, or back down in an arguement with, your children?
Dd is 9 and has recently started argueing her point with me. I know sometimes (not always!) that she is actually in the right but I'm a stubborn thing and also find it hard to apologise when I know my arguement is just plain stupid .
Anyone else like me? Any tips as I know arguements will become more commonplace as she gets older. We often just reach a stalemate and I end up feeling pretty crap tbh.

Yes
My dp gets really exasperated with me
My ds (12) is equally argumentative (very eloquently might I add just like his mum and also hates being wrong and dd (3) shows the sme signs
I wonder how dp will cope
I tend to veer ds off onto topics he knows sod all about, like the origins of Israel or Shakespeare, Russian language and literature
This is how I get my kicks [tragic emoticon] and tbh he is so clever at other things, he could make me look like a noggin very easily.
Which is to be avoided at ALL costs.

Exactly! I do not want to lose face

Posey · 01/09/2006 20:40

No, I must say at least once per day, sorry I shouted then... when I got it wrong.... and my dd is only 2.8....

Guess I need to shout less and be more patient....

Oracle · 01/09/2006 23:29

If I am in the wrong then I admit it. Because hopefully that way my kids will see that I am fair and it will also help them to understand that it's ok to get it wrong - so long as you apologise.

UselessMum · 01/09/2006 23:54

tbh I'm not that bad a mum, maybe I should change my name to UselessWife instead.
