unusual use of her foot

DD is nearly 8 mths and rawling all over the place for the past three weeks. She is now pulling herself up whenever and wherever possible. Thing is she uses her left foot as her 'lead' foot to push up, but its never straight, its always at a 90 degree angle, so she uses her ' instep ' more than her foot to push up. ( hope that made sense) do you think she will get over this once shes standing for real or should i be concerned about it now as it might develop into something more serious?

it looks really strange when she does it!!!!!!

As far as I remember I think that this is quite normal. When she starts walking keep an eye on it and if it keeps carrying on then then you need to ask HV about it. OTherwise don't worry.

DS and most other kids I saw seemed to have problems keeping their feet flat (IYSWIM) until they were actually walking.

DD is 8mths and does this when standing also will cruise on her toes[ouch] but am not worried yet as will see what happens when she walks properly.

My DD did something very similar when she was around 8 months too. She is now 13 months and standing/walking fine. I was so worried I got a child physio to look at her. She said DD is totally fine. Hope that reassures you but do get someone to look if you are still concerned- it gave me so much peace of mind to have a professional say she was ok. but be reassured that it is normal for their legs to look rather odd until they have got the hang of walking...
