I posted here yesterday about Ds not reacting when I call his name (he's 11 months)
No other red flags, he did look at me a couple of times but wondering if this may just be coincidence really..
He's babbling mummy, Dada, iya (whilst waving if there's someone there)
He will wag his finger side to side if I say tick tock (like a clock)
He loves peek a boo and other interactiva games, he has good eye contact and is thrilled and wants loads of attention if someone enters a room.
He's not that interested in toys although he will play with them, he would rather climb all over the furniture and play with me.
He puts EVERYTHING in his mouth.
He bites his hand if he's frustrated.
Can anyone tell me about early autism signs?
I don't know why but my instincts tell me there's something wrong.

Thanks everyone, I think I will book in with gp and ask for his ears to be checked and just mention the possibility of asd while I'm there. At least then he is being monitored and I can keep an eye out for any other red flags in the mean time.

Thank you so much fanjo and ditsy.

I haven't spoken to the GP or HV about it. I keep putting it off, saying I'll give her till 11 months, then 12 months etc.

Oh and I sincerely apologise if I offended anyone by saying "what you would expect a child with asd to be like" I just meant I'd never have even thought of it if it wasn't for him ignoring me. I was in no way saying all asd children are the same I'm really sorry that must have sounded awful.

No not offended in any way.

Its just a misconception everyone seems to have.

ditsydoll · 09/05/2014 18:22

Fanjo do you mind me asking if your dc liked/understood games that involved tone of voice. For example I only have to say I'm going to get you in a certain way and Ds goes crawling off really fast so I can't get him. I don't even have to move, he just knows I'm coming by the way I say it, its a little game we play.

She loves that now. Can't get enough of it. Every day. But she is 7..sorry..can't remember her loving it then. But seems long time ago

Our first sign was loss of language, lack of pointing and being unable to sit until he was 11 months, lots of frustration and head banging.

He loved, and still does love, any type of physical contact - rough games, row the boat, cuddles, tickling etc.

ditsydoll · 09/05/2014 18:41

Thanks fanjo and steady. He doesn't seem to have any language loss, just the name thing.

He also anticipates the ticke at the end of round and round the garden and this little piggy.

All good communication signs :)

SteadyEddie · 09/05/2014 18:55

DS didnt lose any language until he was 14 months, then another regression at 29 months.

I am not a doctor, but nothing is screaming autism in your posts. I know what its like to feel on tenterhooks about it though. I had a DD after DS and I over anylised eveything she did.

ditsydoll · 09/05/2014 19:13

Ds has just picked up his sister's doll and made it clap its hand and waved her little arm and said hiya and gave the doll a sloppy kiss, he really us such a cutie! He

As a baby he hated being held, he was a 'feed me and put me to bed' type of baby. He didn't walk until almost 19 months, wasn't bothered when other babies cried, hated loud noises, hated being around people he didn't know, preferred to be in minimal clothing.

He's 16 now and still hates social situations and tends to ignore people when he's feeling stressed. He's still fussy about clothing textures now and wears t shirt and joggers 90% of the time he's not in school uniform.
